Dr. James Spratt specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical care of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. He is fellowship-trained in hand surgery, with expertise in treating a wide range of conditions, including trauma, arthritis, sports-related injuries, and nerve disorders.
Dr. Spratt earned his graduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He returned to his hometown of Atlanta to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center, followed by advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Hand and Upper Extremity Center of San Antonio in Texas under the mentorship of David P. Green.
An active contributor to the field, Dr. Spratt has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and educational presentations. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders Program, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society.
Originally inspired to pursue orthopedics through his service as an Army medic, Dr. Spratt takes pride in building strong relationships with his patients and developing personalized treatment plans to help them return to the activities they love. Outside of medicine, he enjoys tennis, basketball, skiing, and reading fiction and American history.
